My Cup of Tea

my Intro to Art teacher told us a story that sort of.. brought it home to me.

so there's this realist. i don't recall his name, but it's not really important. he was a realist, and that's what mattered. he drew perfection, each and every time.

he went to Marshall, where i'm going now. and after your senior year, you have to put together a portfolio for review.

well, seeing as how this guy was a realist through and through, you could imagine the heartbreak he went through when he realized he had to do something abstract. he had to, because his portfolio just wasn't the same without an abstract piece. his teacher badgered him, through all four years, to create one piece of abstract artwork.

so the guy breaks down, and he does it. he does it for the teacher, and for society to accept him as an artist. and they do.

and he entitled the piece, "Mrs. ______'s Cup of Tea"


and God help me, but this is my cup of tea.
